Finger ring of copper-alloy

This ring, dating from the medieval period, specifically the late 12th to early 13th century, was discovered during excavations conducted in the 1970s at the archaeological section of the Winchester Museum on Victoria Road in Winchester, Hampshire.

The ring features a stirrup-shaped design that was in vogue during the latter part of the 12th century and the early half of the 13th century. Notably, the pointed rim of the ring retains remnants of enamel that have deteriorated over the centuries while buried in the ground.
