Materials: copper alloy; niello

Copper-alloy cast censer with an open bowl with a flat base and a rim of openwork arches on rectangular bases, standing on three engraved lines encircling the bowl. The body of the bowl is divided by triple engraved lines into six vertical panels. Suspension chains (now lost) were attached to three upward pointing animal heads riveted to the rim; they have snub-nosed muzzles, prominent lenticular eyes, rounded ears and stylized manes in the form of a comma. Their foreheads are decorated with incised notches inlaid with niello.
