Technique: cast; gilded; nielloed; parcel-gilded

Square, silver, gilt, cast mount. A border of acanthus branches deeply recessed in the fluted outer frame surrounds the central domed square, decorated with an equal-pointed cross with diamond-shaped ends and a four-leafed leaf in the center. Between the arms are acanthus tufts. Silver marks along the edge of the mount have been identified as probable niello. The otherwise simple back has two complete and two broken lugs for attachment.
