The Aesir

The Aesir - is the group of Gods in Scandinavian mythology with the Supreme God Odin in a head. They lived, loved, suffered, fighted felt happiness, sadness like all people and could die as they were not immortal. The Aesir Gods are in opposition to the Vanir (Gods of fertility, power of the land, sea and the hidden realms), giants, dwarfs and women godesses - Norns, Valkyries.

The Aesir Gods lived in the heaven castle Asgard. It was connected with the world of people, Midgard, with rainbow bridge Bifrost.

In ancient times the Aesir and the Vanir Gods were in war but with time they decided to make peace. In honor of reconsiliation they exchanged Gods. Aesir sent to Vanir Honir and Mimir; Vanir sent to Asgard Njord, Freyja, Freyr and Kvasir.

Except of Odin there're twenty-seven warrior-gods and twenty-two goddesses in Aesir pantheon. From myths and stories we can learn a lot about famouse Gods Baldr, Bor, Bragi, Buri, Vidar, Vali, Ve, Vili, Loki, Magni, Njord, Thor, Tyr, Forseti, Freyr, Heimdall, Hod and about Goddesses Freyja, Eir, Idunn, Nanna, Nott, Saga, Sif, Sigun, Frigga.

Heroes and kings worshiped to Aesir Gods. They asked them to be in favor, to give power, fearlessness and never had doubts about their help and protection.
