Kunsthall Oslo is a non-profit art space located in the Bjørvika area of central Oslo. The space presents a programme of international contemporary art, with an emphasis on new commissions and a parallel commitment to exploring the social and historical context of contemporary art production. Kunsthall Oslo also hosts the independent art bookshop and publisher Torpedo.
Kunsthall Oslo aims to promote contemporary art and culture in Bjørvika and Oslo by:
- Communicating and exhibiting Norwegian and international contemporary art and culture, primarily in Oslo.
- Encouraging wider knowledge of contemporary culture, and contemporary art in particular, in its social and historical context through exhibitions, guided tours, lectures and educational programs.
- Producing and commissioning new works for exhibition at Kunsthall Oslo or elsewhere, including collaborations with other institutions, organizations and businesses.
- Sharing knowledge and experience regarding art production in the Bjørvika area.
